Overview

Sunstar is a global leader in healthcare, beauty, mobility, and living environments. Their mission is to promote holistic health by leveraging science-based innovations. With this ambitious vision, they needed a robust, scalable digital platform to enhance global engagement while being adaptable across regions, languages, and business verticals. The challenge was to deliver this within a tight schedule and budget constraints.

Design Challenge

Sunstar required a multilingual portal website that could scale as the company grew. Their primary need was a customizable platform that would allow them to independently manage content and updates in the future. Additionally, the project involved navigating complex stakeholder feedback loops from multiple regions and languages across the globe, which made communication and iteration especially challenging.

Solution

To meet these needs, I led the team in building the Sunstar portal using WordPress, chosen for its multilingual support, scalability, and flexibility. Key features of the solution included:

  • Customizable WordPress Architecture: We utilized WordPress as a CMS platform, which allowed Sunstar to handle future content updates, maintenance, and feature additions internally. This was critical to meet their operational flexibility requirements.
  • Multilingual Capabilities: The site was designed to support multiple languages, ensuring a seamless user experience for Sunstar’s global audience.
  • Scalability: With Sunstar’s growth in mind, the platform was designed to handle future expansions, accommodating new regions, languages, and content without compromising performance.
  • Efficient Stakeholder Management: One of the most challenging aspects was managing feedback from stakeholders across different regions. I implemented a structured feedback loop, ensuring alignment across global teams while minimizing delays caused by language and communication barriers.
Design & Development Process
  • Research & Planning The project began with thorough discovery sessions to define business needs and user requirements. Given Sunstar's vast scope, I collaborated with global teams to identify key features and functionalities that would cater to various regions.
  • Design & UX I designed the user experience with simplicity and usability in mind, creating wireframes and user flows that would work universally across cultures. The UI was clean, modern, and aligned with Sunstar’s branding, while offering a user-friendly interface for both consumers and internal teams.
  • Development Leading the development, we implemented WordPress’s advanced features, customizing the backend to suit Sunstar’s specific needs. The platform’s multi-language capabilities were a priority, ensuring ease of use for international teams and customers alike.
  • Iterative Feedback Managing multiple stakeholders across time zones was a challenge, but through continuous iterations and feedback loops, we ensured that the final product met the diverse expectations of Sunstar’s global teams. We employed a streamlined communication system to ensure efficient back-and-forth, reducing bottlenecks caused by regional differences.
Result
  • Successful Launch on Time: Despite the tight timeline, the project was completed and launched on schedule.
  • Global Scalability: The site is now live in multiple languages and is easily adaptable for future growth, including the addition of new regions, services, and content.
  • Empowered Client Management: By using WordPress, we provided Sunstar with a flexible, easy-to-maintain platform, enabling them to manage content updates, add new features, and scale the platform independently.
  • Improved Global Coordination: The project fostered better communication between Sunstar’s regional teams, providing a unified digital platform that served their global audience effectively.
Key Learnings

The Sunstar project emphasized the importance of clear communication and stakeholder management in a global enterprise context. Balancing regional feedback with the technical complexities of multilingual support was challenging but essential to the project's success. Leading both the design and development, I was able to streamline operations, improve the user experience, and deliver a scalable solution that exceeded client expectations.
